The mission of Levay Jozsef Reformed Grammar School and Students’ Hostel is based on Jesus’ mission command and starts when the institute, as an authentic Christian community, accepts students entrusted to them by the parents.

Afterwards, by the teachers’ professional labour of high degree and their personal exemplary behaviour, with resolute values, it broadly cultivates basic and special inclinations and competencies of the students. Our purpose is to prepare students for a sound and responsible adult life – to be a team player in a community.

While as a reformed centre, Levay aims at educating the intellectuals of the time to come by personal formation, effective individual and collective talent care and by reinforcement of Hungarian national values and culture.

EDUCATION OF SCHOOLS PREPARES FOR THE WHOLE LIFE, WHEREAS OUR SCHOOL EVEN PAVES THE WAY FOR ETERNAL LIFE.

We do believe that Levay is the school where teachers, living for the glory of God and in the atmosphere of love, respect, trust and friendship, are able to lead their students into the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, the teaching staff carries out its duty so as to leave an impression on the world through the success of their students and success of their own. By doing so, they make those members of the succeeding generation feel proud who used to be students of Levay.

”Thus far has the Lord helped us.” (1Samuel 7, 12)

Having a Biblical meaning, the symbol of “Alpha and Omega” was chosen to be the logo of Lévay József Secondary Grammar School of the Reformed Church in the school year of 2012-2013.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Rev 22:13)

Not only does the “Alpha and Omega” symbolize its Biblical origin, but also strengthens our mission and refers to the unique relations of our institution.

The Biblical meaning behind the symbol of “Alpha and Omega”:

The beginning and the end. Everything originates from Jesus Christ and returns to Him.

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” (Col 1,16)

Completeness.

“ …may you have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3, 18-19)

The relationship between science and faith

In whom ( Christ )are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col 2,3)

The confirmation of the declaration of our Mission:

Our institution can only fulfil its mission by accepting students with the love of Christ and while leading them to Him teaches and prepares them to the life of a responsible Christian adult.

The unique relations of our institution:

The very fact that the church and our institution belongs to one another gets emphasised to a greater degree by our logo. The roof of Church of Avas symbolises “Alpha”, while the roof of our school refers to“Omega”.

The mutual responsibility of the congregation and our institution lies in our cooperate education:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mt 28, 19-20)

Education is said to prepare for Life.
